The uncomplicated approach to writing and editing web copy

Here are my two golden 'writing for the web' rules:

  1. Write in plain English so everyone can understand it.
    Don't just write for your target audience - your website has a potential audience of the whole world!
  2. Cut your copy in half... then get rid of a bit more!
    Most of your visitors won't read much of your web copy, even if it is super-trim - they'll just scan the page looking for keywords and things to click.

Writing for the web is very different from any other form of writing: along with the actual words are many other important factors such as keyword density, title tags, link titles, paragraph layout, font style.... I've been writing for the web for almost 10 years, and have written and edited thousands of web pages, so whatever copy you need, I can help.
